Pre-Lab: Identifying an Unknown Liquid
Purpose
The purpose of this lab is to identify five unknown liquids
- Litmus Test (to identify if the liquid is an acid, a base or a neutral substance)
- Cobalt Chloride Paper Test (to identify if the liquid contains water)
- Electrical Conductivity Test (to identify if the liquid has dissolved ions present)
The five liquids you are identifying are:
- An acid
- A base
- Ethanol (an alcohol)
- Saltwater
- Tap water
Watch the following videos to see the experiments in which you will be expected to preform in the lab. Then answer the prelab questions assigned.
